Mekorma Power Approvals leverages Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate to display payment approval information for company approvers. Approval or rejection business logic is executed server-side, on your Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains (Dynamics GP) SQL Server, for security and reliability.

Approvers in your organization can access Dynamics GP data that they already have authorized access to. Before those users can connect to your Dynamics GP on-premises SQL Server, an on-premises data gateway needs to be installed and configured.

The gateway facilitates quick and secure behind-the-scenes communication. This communication flows from a Power Approvals user in the cloud to your Dynamics GP on-premises SQL server and then back to the cloud.

A Power Platform or systems admin is usually the one who installs and configures a gateway. These actions might require special knowledge of your on-premises SQL server or server administrator permissions.

This section will help you understand Power Approvals architecture and security by explaining how the on-premises data gateway works.
