Mekorma’s custom check reports are built using Microsoft Report Builder, a report authoring tool that enables you to build and customize your check reports. Our check reports include the essentials for accounts payable (AP) check printing and display a wide range of information. However, depending on your organization’s needs (or regulatory or industry requirements), you can further customize our check reports.

Exporting check reports from Business Central

Before making any edits, you’ll need to export the Mekorma check report layout (.rdl file) from Business Central. Here’s how:

  1. In Business Central, go to Report Layouts.
  1. Use the search bar to find layouts that include Mekorma.
  1. Select the check report you want to edit.
  1. Click the ellipsis (…) in the menu and choose Export layout. This downloads the .rdl file to your machine.
  1. Open in Microsoft Report Builder and customize as necessary.

When your edits are complete, follow the next section to add your updated report back to Business Central.

Importing check reports to Business Central

After editing the report, you can either replace an existing layout or add a new one in Business Central:

To replace an existing layout:

  1. In Report Layouts, select the report you want to update.
  1. Click the ellipsis (…) in the menu and choose Replace layout.
  1. Upload the edited .rdl file.
  1. The check report is now updated and ready to use.

To add a new layout:

  1. In the Report Layouts menu, click New.
  1. Enter a report ID and layout name. If uploading as a Mekorma layout, enter 70819700 for the report ID.
  1. Set the format to RDLC to match the check report file type.
  1. Set the format to be available in all companies.
  1. Upload your .rdl file.
  1. Once uploaded, you can assign the layout to a bank account.

Note: After an update to Business Central, check reports you have customized may revert to their original form. See our topic on troubleshooting to ensure your check report datasets are synchronized when your environment is updated.
