Create a Mekorma Action Board Job Queue Entry to define when one or more Action Board Schedule Templates run. You can add multiple templates to create a fully automated schedule, enabling straight through processing.

Mekorma uses Business Central’s Job Queue Entries feature to schedule your Action Board processing. See Schedule job queues to schedule tasks | Microsoft Docs to learn more about scheduling in Business Central.

  1. Go to Job Queue Entries.
  1. Click New > Mekorma Action Board.
  1. Review and change the description (if needed). This field is automatically populated with the author, date, and time of creation.
  1. In Action Board Schedule Parameters, add the Action Board Schedule Template(s) you want to process.
  1. Set the recurrence for which days of the week the job should run. For more control over the recurrence, use the Next Run Date Formula.
  1. In Starting Time, set the time of day the job should run.
  1. Click Restart to activate the schedule and your Action Board process will now run automatically. It runs according to the schedule until manually stopped.
  1. Click Set On Hold before making any edits to an existing job.

Best practices for Action Board scheduling

To ensure reliable processing when using Action Board scheduling, follow these best practices:

  • Schedule jobs to run during off-hours whenever possible.
  • Run the process manually in Action Board first to estimate processing time.
  • Ensure scheduled jobs do not overlap. Allow enough time between jobs based on expected duration, as overlapping jobs may remain in a Processing state or fail to complete.
  • Since scheduling is cross-company, consider using one company as the main source of scheduling.

Plan your Action Board schedule

When scheduling multiple Action Board processes, plan how actions are grouped based on your business process. While multiple templates can be added to a single job, not all actions should be combined. Using multiple job queues may provide better control than a single fully automated sequence.

Grouping actions incorrectly can cause processes to run before required steps (such as approvals or printing) are complete.

Combine actions in the same job queue when:

  • The actions are part of the same uninterrupted process.
  • No timing, approval, or physical process (like printing) needs to occur between steps.

Examples:

  • Build Payment Batches + Submit Batches for Approval
  • Post Batches + Positive Pay
  • Export EFT Files + Generate EFT Files + Post Batches

Use separate job queue entries when:

  • A step depends on approvals being completed.
  • Physical processes (such as printing) are involved.

Examples:

  • Do not include Submit Batches for Approval and Post Batches in the same job queue when approvals are required.
  • Schedule Process Payments separately so you can confirm printer setup and check stock before printing.

Review scheduled Action Board runs

Mekorma Process Reports tracks all Action Board processing, including scheduled jobs. Because scheduled jobs run in the background, there is no system notification when a run begins. Use Mekorma Process Reports to monitor and review scheduled activity.

To view the results of a scheduled run:

  1. In Job Queue Entries, click … > Actions > Job Queue > Other > Mekorma Process Reports to open the report list. Alternatively, using the global search, go to Mekorma Process Reports.
  2. Select the entry in the Action column to open the processing report for that run.
